A Traverse City Tradition!
The North American Vasa is Michigan's premier cross-country ski marathon. It is held annually on the 2nd Saturday of February at the Timber Ridge RV & Recreation Resort in Traverse City. Ski races are conducted at 12km, 27km and 50km distances in both the classic and freestyle methods. The Jr. Vasa starts at 12:30pm on saturday with non competitive races for kids from 2 and up. A non-timed Valentine's Tour is conducted on Sunday afternoon starting at noon for those who don't care to race. Proceeds benefit the Munson Womens Cancer Fund and Tart Trails.

How long have you been in business?
The 2011 Race will be our 35th anniversary which is the longest running nordic ski race in the state.
What is your primary product or service?
Cross Country ski racing and training in the sport for all ages.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The race was founded by Ted Okerstron and Voijin Baic in 1977 to bring top flight nordic skiers to Traverse City and to help local businesses during a slow time of year.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We don't expect to be the largest race in the country, but we do try to be the best organized. We have been called the "hassle-free Birkie." We are proud to be selected as a member of the American Cross Country Ski Marathon series. We will also be hosting the National Masters races in 2012.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Just one location. We keep adding races, programs and amenities.

Take 3 mile, 4 mile or 5 mile roads south until you hit Hammond Road. Turn left (East) until the road dead-ends at Timber Ridge Resort

Online registration is credit card only.

Which areas do you service?
We typically host skiers from 15-20 states. This year we will host a skier from Moscow, Russia.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are a non-profit.
What are your hours of operation?
The races start at 8:30 am on saturday and 9 am on Sunday and typically last until 4 pm.
